Halloumi Fries

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As I’ve said many times before, it’s very useful having a 16 year old human dustbin at home during the school holidays to test my recipes for me 😂 He’s back at school now, but these delicious morsels got full marks and gained a very definite 2 thumbs up from Toby! Charlie still not that keen on salty squeaky cheese, but I’m sure he’ll come round at some point 😂 So there you have it, my budget friendly #meatfreemonday offering.

Serves 4-6

INGREDIENTS

2 blocks halloumi - sliced into 1.5cm batons

100g breadcrumbs

1-2 eggs - whisked

To serve

Sirancha

Lemon

Aleppo pepper

METHOD

Pat the halloumi dry with kitchen towel. Dip the Cheese into the egg and then coat thoroughly in the breadcrumbs.

Place a large frying pan on a high heat, add about 5-10 mm of oil and fry the halloumi for roughly a minute on each side or until it’s golden and crisp. You will need to do this in batches. I served it on newspaper as it helps absorb a bit of the oil. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
